What are Stimulants?

Stimulants are drugs that speed up the body's functions. The user feels a "rush" or becomes especially excited and energetic.

Examples

Cocaine and methamphetamines are the most popular stimulants. Others include amphetamines, phenmetrazine, methylphenidate, caffeine, and nicotine.

Slang Terms

There are a lot of slang terms used when talking about stimulants. They include Big C, lady, white, blow, nose candy, snowbirds, bump, tool, coke, crack, flake, snow, candy, rock free base, pep pills, bennies, uppers, black beauties, bumblebees, footballs, ups, truck drivers, dexedrine, dexies, speed, peaches, speed, meth, crystal, crank, go-fast, crystal meth, glass, L.A. glass, hot ice, super ice, and L.A. crystal.

What do Stimulants do to the Body?

Stimulants affect the brain's reward system. They sense get excessive stimulation, so the user feels a sense of euphoria. There may be increased alertness, excitations, increased pulse rate and blood pressure, nausea, insomnia, psychosis, loss of appetite, chest pains, loss of control, and strokes.
Depending on the particular drug, and user's body type, these effects may be much more severe.
