Dear Gem and #mormon-friends
Hola! Como estamos? i yo estoy muy bian horita! :)
Well, well, Welcome and greetings all. I heard that someone updated the website so I thought I would drop a line and let you know Joshua is well and the mission has had it's ups and downs, but it's been good. :)
I've had the opportunity to teach a lot of Latino people, a lot of Americas, Puerto Ricas, Mexican, Columbian, Panima, and El Salvador, and Argentina make up the wonderful Latinos.
I get to teach. I've had some awesome experiences whilte out. Sorry to report no baptisms, however my last area, I set up four baptisms and they go them still going. I guess I just get to teach them for now. :) Whatever the Lord wishes of me so be it. :) I have had four companions in the last four months, which was strange, but so the way it goes. My current companion is Elder Willis. He's from Oklahoma. He has six months to go until he's done. He's one awesome companion and a great teacher. I thought I would drop a note to you all and ask what's happening in your lives. Write me please. Missionaries love support! :) I love you all very much. Pray for the missionaries and let us know if you have friends, family, or yourselves that are ready to hear a message that will change your lives. I love you all. Be good. Write us. :)

Hello to #mormon-friends! I hope everything is going well for y`all. I thought I'd send a copy of the six month mission report I made for you to make this letter available to the channel.
We had a baptism (the first I was involved with) this Saturday, I performed the confirmation on Sunday
I'll be mission certified in a few days. Ya know, it's hard to follow all the mission rules (expecially if your companion won't) but it should still be done.
The devil is really after us as missionaries, but the Lord promises to the brethern of the prieshtood also holds true, Doctrine & Covenants 84:88 "And whoso receiveth you, there I will I be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.
I'm looking for girls to write to me, so if anyone wants to write to me (guys you can write me too, but especially any girls who would like to, I've included my address in the 6 month report on the otherside of the letter. Thanks!
Your brother,
Elder Jason Michale Criswell
Enochscion
I went to the M.T.C. ON January 27th of 1999. It was rather tough. There wasn't a whole lot of time to get enough sleep. The Referral Center scared me. The Holy Ghost was very strongly present there at the M.T.C. It really got me fired up to convert the world. It'd be good to get to go back every 4-6 months to recharge enthusiasm, but it's not practicle of course. To work withour experience gained in the field and keep our M.T.C. enthusiasm would make a good missionary. It's really rather hard at times to do all the work, but you keep at it and pray. If it weren't for strength from His Holy Spirit.
Many times I have the thoughts "That's it, I'm going home" because it's so difficult. But, I never do because it's not the right thing to do. "Therefore, O Ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day." D&C 4:2 When it does get overwelming, He is going to lighten our burdens or lighten their effect upon us.
I heard a song that went "Sometimes He calms the storm, and sometimes He calms us" or something similar, a few years ago.
PUtting our turst in Him always makes it so we can do what we need to, but sometimes it requires Him to pour into us strength, but God always fulfills all of His promises, if we follow His will and put our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Back to the M.T.C. We ate a lot of food there. The meals seemed to frequent. I rarely was very hungry at meal time. Flew to Birmingham and spent the night at the mission home (the mission president's house). My mission president is President Perry Webb. He is a really god mission president and really wants us to be effective missionaries. He gave me the assignment to Booniville, Mississippi with Elder Pace Nielson. Elder Nielson and I got along well. We had some disagreements and arguments, but that's to be expected. He finished up his mission on the 9th of This month (July) so I want to write a letter and see how he is doing at home. He really likes math so I'll find out if he's doing a lot of math stuff now that he is home.
The work in Booneville is hard. There aren't a lo tof interested people there. Quite a few of the "I was born a (denomination) I've been (denomination) all of my life, and I'll die (denomination) type of people are there. I dislike that philosophy immensley.
There is a lot of corruption in the preachers down here. I'll say no more, but that yes, is really that bad. It's not a few isolated instances, but is the exact opposite.
Anyway in Booneville there were members of the church back in the 30s and even in the 20s. Now they have had children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren serve missions.
It's a well established ward. Their example really helped us get in and talk to a few people. ALmost everyone in the town knew a member of the Church and commented on what a great person they were. Our favorite investigator we found tracting. He read the entire Book of Mormon in 6 weeks or so, and then the Doctrine & Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price also. He attends churchand was only waiting for God to answer him by the Holy Ghost to get baptized. We'll have to see when he finally gets baptized.
After 4 months and four funerals (a lot of people in Booneville) I was given the information that I was being transfered to ALexander City, ALabama. The only things I forget there in Booneville were my umbrella and four sheets of paper.
Elder Nielson stayed there for another month and then went home to Idaho. I got all my stuff and went to Alexander City on the far side of the mission.
Alexander City has few members of the Church, unlike Booneville. The work is different here. More delivering items from the television, less tracting. Less member involvement also. (there aren't enough of them here).
Elder David Miller from Ogden, Utah is my companion now.
He goes home in another month and a week or so. He's a good guy but our interests are different. He is more easy going than Elder Nielsen was though, so we aren't as argumentative (and there weren't alot of them anyway) that made Elder Nielsen and I closer - it is the opening up to each other and communicating how you feel about things.
We have had three baptisms scheduled and a few more who might progress if they are really to do what they are going to have to (keep our committments! to God and one another).
My first opportunity to witness a baptism of someone I taught should be at the baptism of Sister Charlotta Gleen on this Saturday.
Oh, I almost forgot about my M.T.C. companions Elder Heath. He is also here in this mission. He was pretty cool, but of course I didn't get to know him as well as my other companions since I only was his companion for three weeks.
For those of you that don't know my mission address for the entire mission (use my local area ddress instead if you have it) is:

I hope you enjoy this year letter. I sure do love #mormon-friends!
Hello Everyone,
Well, How are y`all. I hope GREAT! This is my year mark letter!! Yes, it's been a year, but time flies so fast it feels like yesterday that I entered the MTC (Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah)! I love Colorado and the people are treating me well and also feeding me well.
Thanks to all who keep in touch! I love writing letters, just ask my folks. The more letters you write, the more mail you get. That's been true on my mission! Ok, I'll stop bragging about letters!
I am currently in Longmont, Co. I am in Longmont 4th ward. I am serving with Elder Cluff from Tucson, AZ. Longmont is a computer nerd's dream, and that is why I feel right at home. Many people work at IBM or other computer companies.
In Longmont we are working with the Cain family. They are a family of six and have been meetin with us for over a month. THis is the first time I have ever taught a family. This past week, I taught them part of the 4th discussion, which is on the purpose of life or the plan of salvation. There were 20 people in the room, 10 kids and 10 adults. A couple families from the church were over to fellowship the Cain family, and there is why there were so many people there. I loved it, thought I was very nervous. they mentioned after the discussion that they love the discussions and understand what we teach. I pray that they get baptized.
I'll not look back on the past year! It sure has been a quick year! My trainer was Elder David Eyre in August `98. In that month we saw miacles! He has burnt his hand because of a grease fire and I gave him a blessing. In the next six months his hand would almost heal, even thought he had 3rd degree burns.
In November '98, my companion, Elder Meservy and I met Melissa Franklin> I was serving in Arvada, Colorado. We taughter her the 6 lessons and the spirit witnessed to her that what we were teaching was true. She got baptized shortly thereafter. It was an awesome baptism and spiritually uplifting! A week ago, I heard Melissa was doing great and loves the gospel! I also had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed the cold season of Colorado. It did get down to -20 once.
I rang in the New Year in Lakewood, Co. In February `99, I served in Sterling, Co. It is a small town of about 11,000 people. I served with Elder Johnson and saw Jessica Lad and Ron Griggs get baptized.
In April '99, I served in Broomfrield, Co., with my favorite companion, Elder Baillio. He and I worked very had. During that month we saw Lee and Robert Rittenhouse accept the gospel and get baptized. The spirit touched them and they even went and bought their own scriptures.
In May `99, we saw the spirit touch Michello Pardee and her boyfriend Adam. Adam was getting back to church and is a convert of 2 years. Adam carried the spirit and helped his girlfriend know that what we teach was true! Every discussion was spiritual! Adam now plans to go on a mission! I sure do love Broomfield!
The month of June has come and gone! I had a great birthday and the members took good care of me. Thanks for all your letters of love and support. I love the gospel message and sharing it with others. I love y'all and wish you the best! The gospel and the Book of Mormon have changed my life. I love the Lord Jesus Christ! May God bless you all~ Read Job 19:25.
With love,
Elder Gleason
